I will try13 July 2011 at 18h11 #15341Ok guys
Ive listened to the Las Vegas Marqee Dayclub mix and to be honest i think its a pile of crap (sorry)
the reason is if you said to me five or ten ago years fatboy slim would play deep latin style house with some charty electro tunes i would of said “no way, not a chance” but i guess im wrongI feel that we have lost fatboy slim in this new digital age his music does not suit his style. he was the big beat heavy houser dj that give us a big PARTY nights & tunes but these days his gigs just seem boring same tune after same tune after set after set
im sorry board but thats is the way i feel. after 16 years of being fatboy slim fan collecting a load of stuff through the years from live sets to merchandise i feel im losing the love for fatboy slimsorry guys
keep up the good work fran and the rest of the board
13 July 2011 at 19h36 #15342you don’t need to be sorry.
To tell you the truth, if i followed my feelings , i stopped in glory NCI this year. (i stopped collecting FBS stuff since 2010)
I continue today little by little for memory (/ nostalgy) and by respect to all people who did NCI.
I simply enjoy to develop a website.
I could understand that people like or dislike new digital ways of norm but the essentiel is that i think people as me (as woka / craigK..) regret the old big beat vibes.
On thing is sure: i will not pay a travel to London to see norm mixing in digital. The most disapointing is the fact that Norm did many “same” set this year (and since 2006)…with always same tracks.. There is no more surprise .. no crazyness in sets… no more norm’ touch remix.
Personnally, “the magic” is gone when Norman left vinyls in fact…
I’ll probably continue the construction of NCI on encyclopedia way (the interest is to do something that don’t exist..), but it will take years and be ready for ..next generations
Well, i let you, have to see french fireworks of our 14th july
See you later, Friends,
FND aka François
PS: Sorry for my bad english writing as usual ;)
13 July 2011 at 20h19 #15343While I didn’t enjoy the cheesy electro house stuff he played, I did enjoy the latin tracks in the mix and stuff such as His Majesty Andre’s Clubs and Spades and Fake Blood’s ‘Fix Your Accent’ (Classic song!). I personally think his indoor sets are a lot better than his outdoor sets as he plays more underground and unusual stuff and is more improvisational (he was amazing when I saw him in Leeds last year and his free mixes on his website are pretty darn good).
