So, again i’ll share something that totally fits in the
context of big-broken-beat-up-beat sound that norman
cook plays. This is by a little Australian group by the
name of “the Avalanches”, their one and only album
came out in 2001. I highly suggest you go out and buy
it. It forever changed the way I listened to music.
This is one of the dancier tracks, absolutely awash in
samples. It kind of sounds like a micro-deejay set from
the amount of work and mood changes contained.
Anyway, enjoy!

One of the best dance LP’s IMO. :gig:
I also recomend their El Producto and Undersea Community releases, both a little rough and rawer than what was to come, but still fascinating listening!

Yeah didn’t mean to rule out those other EPs,
but i’m really really fond of “since…”. You should
also be sure to check out their website, while
there’s still not much news on the new album
front (sigh), there’s a couple of really amazing
deejay sets from their BRAINS nights in Australia.
I remember somebody talking about the first version
of “since…” the one with all the different uncleared
samples. I finally got to listen to it, and it kinda paled
in comparison to the amount of detail that the finish
work has honestly.
Oh and check out their remixes as well, they remixed
a wolfmother track, a belle & sebastien track, and a
badly drawn boy track. The sebastien & belle one is
very very good.

Paxus,
Awh man still no news of any new releases eh? Shame, cos I’m in total agreement with both Rory and Yourself, the ‘Since..’ album is very special indeed

Yeah I love the cut up madness of this Wolfmother ‘Woman’ Avalanches remix…
They’re a big hairy aussie rock combo aren’t they? :grandpa:
Nice one bro :clapping:
