Release date: 6th November 2006. Label: Skint.
Fatboy Slim gives us his Champion Sound. The second single taken from the suitably large album, ‘The Greatest Hits – Why Try Harder’.
‘Why Try Harder’ rocketed into the charts at number 2 in June and sold more copies in one week than any previous FBS album. It was the beginning of a massive summer for Fatboy. He headlined beach events in Portrush and Loch Ness (probably the most beautiful festival location in the UK), and also Global Gathering and V (where comedian Peter Kay invaded the stage!), not forgetting gigs and festivals all over Europe. From Romania to Ibiza, Fatboy and his trusty record box were there!
Champion Sound finds Fatboy Slim reunited with Lateef once again, and on the radio edit by Sharon Woolf (vocalist from the no. 1 dance smash Sweet Like Chocolate). It’s a slice of bouncy life-affirming pop sprinkled with that unique Fatboy magic. It comes with a bundle of top notch remixes as Switch, Krafty Kuts, M Factor and Digital Dog all get in on the fun.
The release will also feature a special remix of Rockafeller Skank by young Welsh rockers The Automatic. Fatboy Slim is remixing Monster in return – an obvious choice after Fatboy played his own re-edit to raptuous reaction at Loch Ness!
The video for the last single That Old Pair Of Jeans was something of an internet sensation. A promo that featured Fatboy Slim’s music interpreted through the medium of juggling, its debut on myspace picked up 200,000 views in just 10 days, and led to Norman performing the track live on David Letterman’s show, complete with juggler! It also spawned a competition – to do you own juggling video for the track. Hundreds of entries later and Gus Tate’s winning video is featured on the commercial release of Champion Sound.

The video for Champion Sound is by Steve Glashier, involves “domestic dominos†and will feature a very rare cameo appearance from Norman Cook.
Norman Cook has just returned from Mali where he was there as patron for the Coaching For Hope project. He is also taking part in the Electric Promos on the 27th October. At a secret location, Fatboy Slim will perform an exclusive early years set in front of only 100 people. A contender for his smallest gig ever. After playing to a million people in Salvador earlier this year, you couldn’t get more different! Tickets are not available for sale but can be won via competitions on Radio One, fatboyslim.net and myspace.com/fatboyslim. More news to come…..
